Telecom operators on January 24, united to lobby against the draft External Gateway Operator (EGO) licence citing shortcomings including the lack of access tariffs. rn
rnA lack of an interconnection framework also would obstruct an equal access regime, operators said, another shortcoming in the draft licence. rn
rnRegulatory officials insisted that the final report on the interconnection report would be released Friday. rn
rnThe interconnection framework will allow operators to access the viability of opening up their networks and their customer base to competition.rn
rnOperators also requested for a 14 day extension to the date set to issue the EGO licences, to iron out their concerns. rnrn
