Police inspectors and sub-inspectors are tipped to take home an additional Rs. 900 every month above their salaries, calculated as set out in the 2004 budget.

A committee appointed by Finance Minister K. N. Choksy to look into raising salaries of the Police force came back with the decision on Tuesday.

rnHowever, the recommended increment is lower than the Budgets proposed minimum of Rs. 1,250, a figure some police ranks were not happy with. rn

rnThe Finance Minister appointed committee was mooted to resolve this concern. rn

rnApart from the Police department, members of the armed forces and the rest of the public service will also take home an estimated Rs. 12.5 billion as an increment this year when their salaries are revised upwards beging from January.
