Treasury heads from Sri Lanka's top corporates have joined hands to tackle industry issues and expand the knowledge base. Headed by Rohan Perera, Group Treasurer of John Keells Holdings, the Association of Corporate Treasurers plans to take up issues like taxation and exchange control limits with financial service authorities.

"Previously we went through trade chambers, the forex association, primary dealers and so on to take up issues that were affecting us. But we felt our voices were not being heard. The association as one group can now tackle issues that's affecting us directly with authorities," Perera said.

As part of knowledge sharing, the group is talking to the Sri Lanka Forex Association to get down trainers and sharpen members' skills.

Treasury units of 20 corporates have signed up for the inaugural launch on Thursday and Perera feels there are around 10-15 big or midsize companies out there who could also join in.

The maiden committee consists of: Rohan Perera (President), Sunil Leeniyagoda (Vice President), Yasantha Dissanayake (Secretary), Saumya Nadarajah (Asst. Secretary), Krishan Jayasekera (Treasurer), Adrian Perera (Asst. Treasurer). Committee members include: Niranjan Perera, Sam Jayaselvan, Iresha Premawardena, Thivanka Rangala and Neil Ranawaka.
