The Inland Revenue is adding priority banking to its list of concessions to good taxpayers. Inland Revenue’s Deputy Commissioner H B Senevirathne said a number of banks have agreed to offer concession to good tax payers, including startup-charge free credit cards and speedy loan processing.

The department has asked other institutions to also offer concessions that can be passed on to good tax payers.

The department has currently negotiated for priority customs clearance for travelers at the airport along with priority service at state institutions and government departments.

Officials hope to finalize an initial list of concessions before inviting eligible tax payers to apply for the gold and sliver privilege cards.

The Inland Revenue will issue gold cards to individuals paying up over Rs 1 mn in taxes, on time and without areas.

Good tax payers that hand in half a million in taxes to the government coffers will get silver cards.
