Colombo stocks fell nearly one percent as the market opened for trading on Tuesday.

Analysts were expecting the market to take a hit, after hotel firms, which led a recent rally, were devastated by Sunday's tidal wave.


However resorts north of Colombo, and hotel properties in Colombo and some resorts just south of Colombo are overflowing with tourists.
