Oct 05, 2015 (LBO) – SriLankan Airlines’s flights on-time performance in August has been ranked 16 out of 50 international airlines rated by a global flight data service.
The Airline has recorded an on-time performance of 85.26 percent of its flights in August 2015 and not far off that of the 91.48 percent of first placed S7 Airlines of Russia.
On-Time Performance is a key performance indicator in an industry in which each airline tries to gain a competitive edge through higher standards in customer service.
Global flight data service, Flightstats releasing the data said it measures on time arrivals with flight arrives at the gate earlier than 15 minutes after the scheduled arrival time.

As per the data, during the month of August the national carrier has conducted 2,840 flights and 77.68 percent has been tracked by the data service.
“August is a peak month for us and to achieve this result during this period is an even more credible achievement.” said Pro- tem CEO of SriLankan, Rakhita Jayawardena.
The Airline, however began 2015 with a less than desirable 66 percent of flights on-time, but began to improve each month, recording over 80 percent in April, May, June and July.
SriLankan said its Punctuality Improvement Committee constantly monitors every flight, including the performance of every department and station, and examines reasons for delays.

UL is 33 out of 34 in term of frequency (only above virgin atlantic) – even with lower base, wonder why OTD isnt at the peak when UL operates from BIA which isnt a busy airport!

on the first glance this looks impressive but a whole lot is left unsaid. simple point: look at the number of flights we flew as opposed to some of the other airlines in the list. we flew the least and still ended up below the top 10.
this is like the newcomer batsman to test cricket who averages 75 after a couple of innings and then comparing with someone who averages 50 after 100 tests. LOL
there can be so many other questions about this stat but then whats the point???
only 77% of flights are tracked. if it were 90% like for others our rank will be much lower.
