Aug 25, 2017 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s President Maithripala Sirisena on Friday filled two ministerial posts vacated after the sacking of Wijedasa Rajapaksa from his cabinet portfolios.
Accordingly, Thalatha Atukorale took oaths as the new Minister of Justice while Gamini Jayawickrama Perera took oaths as new Minister of Buddha Sasana before President at the President’s official residence.
The Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and the Secretary to the President Austin Fernando were also present on this occasion.
This is the first time a female politician has been appointed to the post of Minister of Justice.

She will also hold her current portfolio as Foreign Employment Minister.
The president sacked Wijedasa Rajapaksa from the cabinet earlier this week approving the main ruling UNP’s request to remove him due to charges of breaching collective responsibility of the cabinet.
