Sri Lanka’s Chamber of Commerce to host a business forum with Indian Prime Minister

Mar 11, 2015 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s premier business chamber is organizing an evening event to host a business forum with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi which will be attended by top business leaders in the island.

The visiting Indian Prime Minister will address 400 local businessmen on 13th Friday, in Colombo. Chairman of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Suresh Shah will make the introductory speech at the upcoming forum, which would be followed by the speech of the Indian Prime Minister. “We consider this as a unique opportunity to listen to the Indian Prime Minister, the Prime Minister of one of the largest economies of the World and also Sri Lanka’s largest trading partner to understand his vision and policy direction”, said Mangala P.

Starting his three nation visit to Seychelles, Maurituis and Sri Lanka, the Indian Prime Minister said his visit to Sri Lanka is an opportunity to further strengthen the relationship in the areas of political, strategic, economic, cultural and above all people to people contacts. This is the first time; an Indian Prime Minister is making a bilateral visit to Sri Lanka, since the last such visit made by an Indian Premier in 1987.
