Recognizing the importance of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to Sri Lanka's export potential, the Export Development Board (EDB) recently concluded a six-week coaching programme designed to equip them with the tools and strategies to enter international markets.
The "Innovative Export Marketing Planning and Market Pitching Programme" saw 25 promising SMEs participate in workshops, individual consultations, and knowledge-sharing sessions on crucial aspects like export planning, packaging, branding, logistics, and documentation.
On December 5, 2023, 17 companies presented their tailored export marketing plans to an external evaluation panel. The plans outlined projected financial needs for market entry, covering areas like market research, quality enhancements, capacity building, packaging development, and branding.
Ten companies were recognized for their well-developed plans, including Lak Nature International Pvt Ltd, Serangreen Holdings Pvt Ltd, and Saviru Spices & Naturals (Pvt) Ltd. These SMEs will now receive dedicated support from the EDB to implement their plans and embark on their export journey.
The programme demonstrates the EDB's commitment to empowering SMEs and fostering Sri Lanka's export growth. By providing practical skills and guidance, the EDB hopes to contribute to increased export activity, economic expansion, and job creation within the nation.
