Sri Lankan firms offered carbon emission reduction service

Oct 04, 2010 (LBO) - Reducing carbon emissions can give Sri Lankan businesses a competitive advantage, according to officials of a new company offering carbon reduction services. Carbon Consulting Company (CCC) has been appointed as an approved reseller of The CarbonNeutral Company’s services, including carbon offsets and certification.

We can no longer depend on trade agreements and duty concessions to compete against countries where cheap labour is freely available and disregard for the environment is flagrant," said Subramaniam Eassuwaran, director of the Carbon Consulting Company.

"Instead we ourselves need to attract green tourists, green buyers and green investors if we are to keep abreast of fast changing global trends and regulations.

CCC has also developed emissions assessment capabilities that enable it to measure the carbon emissions produced by businesses and their products.

CCC is also accredited by the UK Government’s Carbon Trust as a Footprint Expert for product carbon footprinting.
