Sri Lanka to pay revised pensions to pre-2006 retirees with August pension

July 16, 2015 (LBO) – Sri Lankan government has decided to revise the pensions of public servants who retired before the implementation of Public Administration Circular 6/2006 which were issued revising the salaries of public service, based on the salary revised by above circulars.







The necessary instructions have been given under the Public Administration Circulars No.



16/2015. The government has also decided to provide this benefit to 330,000 pensioners and spouses of deceased pensioners who retired before 2006.

This revision will come in to effect from 01 July 2015 and revised pension with arrears will be added to the August pension, official government news portal reported. The government is to incur an expenditure of 1.







8 billion rupees per one month and 16 billion rupees per year to meet revised pensions of public servants.
