Jan 05, 2017 (LBO) - Sri Lanka’s Cabinet of Ministers has given the go ahead for setting up of a science, technology and innovation coordinating authority to enable better co-ordination of research and development institutions.
"It will be done with the view of gaining the maximum outcome of investments made on science, technology and innovation for the socio-economic development," a statement on cabinet decisions said.
The authority will facilitate the coordination of research and development activities administered by 21 line ministries and about 80 research institutions and research centres.
The proposal was made by Susil Premajayantha, Minister of Science, Technology and Research.
