Jan 21, 2015 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s newly appointed minister of finance, Ravi Karunanayake was quoted saying that the new government will develop the economy though proper management of the tax revenue and by attracting foreign direct investment to the Island. Karunanayake said that the prime commitment of the new government is to fulfill the aspirations of the people for their benefit, with the help of knowledge and experience of the government officers and politicians. He assumed official duties yesterday at the Ministry premises.
A statement released by the Ministry quoted Karunanayake saying,
…that the new government expects to develop the economy of the country by way of proper management of revenue collected from tax paid by the public and attracting foreign investments through opening the economy of Sri Lanka to the whole world while accessing the global market and safeguarding the local industries.
