Sri Lanka stocks closed up 0.90 pct

September 20, 2012 (LBO) Sri Lanka stocks recovered losses and closed up 0.90 percent Thursday. The Colombo All Share Index closed at 5,901.97 up 52.83 points and the S & P SL 20 Index closed 27.97 higher at 3,169.61 up 0.89 percent.

Turnover was 941 million rupees. Dialog Axiata dominated the day's turnover with 81 million rupees, JKH with 70 million, Ceylon Tobacco with 61 million rupees.

Noteworthy gainers for the day were Kandy Hotels up by 32.2 percent to close at 11.90 rupees, SMB Leasing up by 25.0 percent to close at 0.50 cents and Ceylon Printers up by 19.0 percent to close at 2,998.90 rupees.

Newly listed George Steuart Finance was down 18.6 percent to close at 1,020.00 rupees, Lanka Walltile down by 7.0 percent to close at 66.40 rupees and Hayleys Export down by 6.3 percent to close at 28.10 rupees brokers said.

Aitken Spence PLC gained 0.10 cents to close at 124.00 rupees up 0.08 percent.

Ceylon Tobacco Company PLC dropped 8.80 rupees to close at 700.20 rupees down 1.24 percent.

Commercial Banka rose 1.10 rupees to close at 114.10 rupees up 0.97 percent. DFCC Bank slipped 1.00 rupee to close at 119.00 rupees down 0.83 percent. Hatton National Bank PLC gained 1.50 rupees to close at 166.00 rupees up 0.91 percent.

Dialog Axiata gained 0.10 cents to close at 7.50 rupees up 1.35 percent. Index heavy John Keells Holdings closed at 219.40 up 0.64 percent.
