Sri Lanka stocks close lower 0.03-pct
July 21, 2015 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s stocks closed lower 0.03 percent on Tuesday with low investor activity, brokers said.
The Colombo benchmark All Share Price Index closed 2.27 points lower at 7,145.59 down 0.03 percent.
The S&P SL20 closed 2.38 points lower at 4,005.14 down 0.06 percent.
Turnover was 334.8 million rupees, down from 646.7 million rupees Monday with 67 stocks closing positive against 75 negative.
“There was low investor activity and turnover hit a six week low as well,” Lanka Securities said.
The main index was dragged down by Distilleries Company closing at 270.50 rupees, down 9.50 rupees and Kegalle Plantations closed at 85.90 rupees, down 48.70 rupees.
John Keells Holdings closed at 185.00 rupees, up 1.00 rupees.
In banking stocks, Sampath Bank closed at 260.00 rupees, down 0.10 rupees and DFCC closed at 196.80 rupees, down 1.40 rupees. Commercial bank closed at 167.00 rupees, down 1.10 rupees.
Dialog Axiata closed flat at 11.20 rupees.
