Sri Lanka stocks close higher at 0.02-pct
May 11, 2015 (LBO) - Sri Lanka's stocks closed higher at 0.02 percent with active trading seen in the livestock and some baking sector stocks, brokers said.
The Colombo benchmark All Share Price Index closed 1.16 points higher at 7,213.63 up 0.02 percent. The S&P SL20 closed 6.72 points higher at 4,065.34 up 0.17 percent.
Turnover was 586.47 million rupees down from 633.7 million rupees on Friday, with 77 stocks closing positive against 99 negative.
Lanka Securities said, there were two crossing recorded during the day’s trading while most of the banking stocks closed positive.
In the livestock sector Grain Elevators closed at 40.10 rupees, up 0.10 rupees and Three Acre Farms closed at 52.70 rupees, up 2.40 rupees.
The main contributor to the ASPI was Distilleries Company with the stock closing at 274.30 rupees, up 8.20 rupees and Ceylon Cold Stores closing at 374.20 rupees, up 14.20 rupees.
In the banking sector Hatton National Bank closed at 236.30 rupees, up 1.30 rupees and Commercial Bank closed at 171.20 rupees, down 0.70 rupees.
DFCC closed at 218.20 rupees, down 1.80 rupees following a CSE filling that the proposed merger with NDB would not go through as planned.
John Keells Holdings closed at 203.00 rupees, down 1.50 rupees with two crossings of 100,000 shares at 203.00 rupees and another 179,000 shares at 204.00 rupees.
