Sri Lanka stocks close flat
May 08, 2015 (LBO) - Sri Lanka's stocks closed flat with investors continuing to take profits, brokers said.
The Colombo benchmark All Share Price Index closed 0.43 points lower at 7,212.47 down 0.01 percent. The S&P SL20 closed 0.77 points lower at 4,058.77 down 0.02 percent.
Turnover was 633.7 million rupees down from 1.16 billion rupees on Thursday, with 83 stocks closing positive against 87 negative.
Lanka Securities said, there were no crossings recorded during the day’s trading while profit taking by some investors was seen for a second consecutive day.
The top contributor to the day’s trading was Distilleries with the stock closing at 266.10 rupees, up 7.20 rupees.
Cargills Ceylon drove the market down and closed at 135.50 rupees, down 9.30 rupees and Ceylon Brewery closed at 750.00, down 108.80 rupees.
In the banking sector Hatton National Bank closed at 235.00 rupees, down 1.60 rupees and NDB closed flat at 270.00 rupees. Commercial Bank closed at 171.20 rupees, down 0.70 rupees.
