Sri Lanka stocks close down 0.7-pct
Jan 07, 2016 (LBO) – Sri Lankan stocks closed down at 0.72 percent for a fifth consecutive day with continued losses in the banking and some index heavy stocks, brokers said.
The Colombo benchmark All Share Price Index closed lower at 48.99 points at 6,726.28 down 0.72 percent. S&P SL20 closed 32.04 points down at 3,514.41 down 0.90 percent.
Turnover was at 488 million rupees, down from 740 million rupees Thursday with 18 stocks closing positive against 134 negative.
The main index showed losses in Distilleries Lanka closing at 230.10 rupees, down 10.00 with one off the floor trade of over 200,000 shares at 235.00 rupees and Cason and Cumber batch closing at 340.00 rupees, down 10.00 rupees.
In banking Commercial Bank closed at 139.30 rupees, down 0.10 rupees and DFCC bank closed at 160.00 rupees, down 0.50 rupees.
Hatton National Bank closed at closed at 205.90 rupees, down 2.10 rupees.
Active trading was seen Dialog Axaita with the stock closing at 10.30 rupees, down 0.10 rupees with one off the floor trade of 5 million shares at 10.40 rupees.
