Cabinet Ministers have begun to resign following the resignation of the Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa from his post.
Channa Jayasumana and Widura Wickramanayake had already tendered their resignation to the President, sources confirmed.
Meanwhile, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has strongly condemned the violent acts taking place in parts of the country right now by those 'inciting and participating, irrespective of political allegiances.'
"Violence won’t solve the current problems," he tweeted earlier Monday.
