Johanne Jayaratne, executive director of Airports and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka), a state agency which operates airports, said the infrastructure developments were part of the planned expansion of the Katunayake airport, north of Colombo.
"There's an immediate need for a multi-storey car park and an airport," he told a forum on aviation held by the Chartered Institute of Transport and Logistics.
"We're actively looking for investors interested in doing such a venture.
There's enough land available."
The hotel and car park would be located at the 18th milepost junction, known as 'airport junction' where the road to the airport branches off from the main road from Colombo.
"We're also considering a mono-rail to connect them (car park and hotel) to the airport terminal," Jayaratne also said.
"We're doing studies right now.
It is at a very embryonic stage.
