Sep 02, 2015 (LBO) – Sri Lanka Freedom Party needs a complete restructuring in order to gain back power in the future, President Maithripala Sirisena said.

“To win the next election and to form a government in the future, we need to give birth to a legitimate political child,” President Sirisena said. Speaking at the 64th SLFP convention held at Polonnaruwa today evening President Sirisena pointed out that the party needs to recognize the reasons for the recent defeat.





“We as a political party who governed the country for the past 20 years and even today as the party who has the leadership of this government, we need to completely restructure the party,” President Sirisena said.

Even though former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and all other senior politicians of the party participated in the ceremony, former President Chandrika Bandaranaike did not participate.
