Sri Lanka Aviva unit to get new managing director

Jan 08, 2010 (LBO) - Sri Lanka's Eagle Insurance Company, a unit of Aviva, said its managing director Deepal Sooriyaarachchi intends to quit in June this year and will be replaced by a nominee from the Aviva Group.





William Lisle, chairman of Eagle Insurance, said in a stock exchange filing that Sooriyaarachchi has expressed his intention to leave the firm on June 30, 2010 to pursue his professional interests in marketing and academia.



Sooriyaarachchi became managing director of Eagle Insurance in February 2006 and has been associated with the firm since 1990.

The Eagle Insurance statement said Sooriyaarachchi will be succeeded by a nominee from the Aviva Group, Shah Rouf, present chief executive of Aviva Romania and chief distribution officer of Central and Eastern Europe for Aviva.

Rouf is a British national with over 16 years of experience with the Aviva Group.
