Following a significant investment in the Colombo Port expansion, Sri Lanka seeks to broaden its partnership with the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC).
Ambassador Mahinda Samarasinghe met with DFC CEO Scott Nathan on December 8th to explore avenues for deeper collaboration aimed at boosting Sri Lanka's economic growth with potential areas of collaboration, including refinancing commercial loans, environmental projects, women's empowerment initiatives, and food security programs.
DFC recently invested USD 553 million for the development of the West Container Terminal at the Colombo Port with support from the Adani Group and leading Sri Lankan blue chip company John Keells Holdings.
This substantial investment will not only create an additional deep water terminal in the Colombo Port but would also generate significant employment opportunities and income generation activities.
