Colombo - Thursday: JVP leader Somawansa Amarasinghe  confirming that the party had quit the coalition government over the tsunami aid sharing proposal. The Alliance government's key coalition partner says its will sit in the opposition as an independent party. The Marxist JVP quit the coalition government effective from midnight Wednesday as an ultimatum to the President to withdraw a proposal to disburse aid with the LTTE lapsed. SF/LBO
