Dec 08, 2016 (LBO) – World’s biggest smartphone vendor Samsung is planning to create an all-screen front for the Galaxy S8 smartphones coming out next year, reports said.
A virtual home button will also be included in the screen while scrapping the physical home button and embedding the fingerprint sensor also in the display.
The company is to release the next version of its flagship phone, the Galaxy S8, without the 3.5mm audio port and will use the phone's USB-C charging port as its audio output.
Samsung may also be able to make the phone thinner than its predecessor by getting rid of the jack like the newly released iPhone 7.
The latest reports also suggest that the Galaxy S8 will come with stereo speakers.
The company is considering scrapping plans for a dual-camera on the S8 due to higher manufacturing costs, a report said.
Samsung is currently targeting a March release of the S8 probably at the Mobile World Congress trade show.
Meanwhile Apple is said to be planning to adopt OLED screens for their next phone, which are thinner and use less power than liquid-crystal screens while also offering deeper colors.
