Legislature to roll out the e-Sri Lanka initiative is to be debated in Parliament on May 22.
Economic Reforms, Science and Technology Minister Milinda Moragoda told participants at the first e-government conference on Friday that the ICT Bill was approved by Cabinet recently and would be debated in Parliament shortly.

rnThe bill will formalise the formation of the ICT Agency, the appointment of the CEO and allow for the implementation of the e-Sri Lanka action plan. rn
rnMeanwhile, a preliminary draft policy on e-government is being discussed by the industry.rn
rnE-government is one of five areas identified in the e-Sri Lanka initiative for development and the most extensive.rn
rnThe policy identifies 19 key strategy areas supported by key actions to be taken and timeframes.rn
