Feb 19, 2020 (LBO) – Sri Lanka Railway Department on Wednesday launched an online booking system to facilitate the reservation of railway seats for pensioners with railway warrants.
In the past, the department has been doing this on the recommendation of the Grama Niladhari of the area and the approval of the Divisional Secretary. Due to this lengthy procedure, retired public servants have been severely inconvenienced.

Under the new system, pensioners will be able to book their seats by providing the NIC number and other details online or any railway station.
The service commenced today at the Fort Railway Station under the patronage of Minister of Transport, Power and Energy Mahinda Amaraweera.
