Prof. B. Mahadevan speaks about Inspirational Leadership

World-renowned speaker Prof. B. Mahadevan is in Sri Lanka on the invitation of the Business School of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka), to conduct several programmes for the corporate leadership in the country. Prof. Mahadevan was the guest speaker at the CA Sri Lanka CEOs’ Breakfast Forum on “Inspirational Leadership: Lessons from Ancient Indian Wisdom,” which was followed by a HR forum on “The Notion of Incomplete Leaders and New Ideas in Leadership,” on 16th February 2016, which was held at the Cinnamon Lakeside. Prof. Mahadevan is a Professor of Operations Management at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, where he has been teaching since 1992. He was also the Dean (Administration) of the Institute and a member of the Governing Board of IIMB for four years. Professor Mahadevan has more than 24 years of wide-ranging experience in teaching, research, consulting and academic administration at IIM Bangalore and other reputed institutions such as IIT Delhi and XLRI, Jamshedpur. He was conferred the ICFAI Best Teacher Award by the Association of Indian Management Schools in 2005. Prof. Mahadevan was one among the 40 nominated globally for the Economic Intelligence Unit’s (EIU) Business Professor of the Year Award, 2012. Prof. Mahadevan was also the guest speaker at the CA Sri Lanka Training Partners Forum – 2016 where he spoke on ‘Bringing out the Leader from Within.’ During his stay in Colombo, Prof. Mahadevan will also conduct a one-day programme on ‘Spirituality & Inspirational Leadership,’ on 17th February 2016 for senior level professionals including, Business Leaders, CEOs, CFOs, Heads of Departments, Senior Managers and HR Managers. The programme is designed to enable executives understand the core issues in organizations that inhibit them from good performance and will provide a fresh set of ideas to address these issues. The objectives of the programme includes; sensitizing the participants to the traits of leadership which vary from being a failed leader to an inspirational leader, introducing new paradigms for meaningful work, showcasing the usefulness of spirituality as a value in business and providing alternative paradigms for business management. Professor Mahadevan received his M.Tech. and Ph.D. from the Industrial Engineering and Management Division of IIT Madras, and holds a bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Production Engineering) from the College of Engineering, Guindy, Madras. He was a visiting scholar at the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration, Dartmouth College, New Hampshire, in 1999–2000. He was also a retainer consultant to Deloitte Consulting LLP, USA, in 2001–2002.
