Post-war Sri Lanka concentrated on development not reconciliation: President

May 19, 2015 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s former administration, after winning a terrorist war against the LTTE has not concentrated on the reconciliation process, President Maithripala Sirisena said.



“I think the post war Sri Lanka concentrated more on physical development rather than building reconciliation,” Sirisena said.



He was speaking at the ‘Ranaviru Commemorative Parade 2015’ held in Matara with the participation of the tri-forces. “Even though there was a process to rebuild the broken buildings and roads; we didn’t have a process to rebuild the broken hearts of the people,” “So as the new government, our policy is the development as well as the reconciliation. We can’t accomplish the objective of reconciliation only through development.







” Sirisena further said. The annual war hero commemoration ceremony will be held Wednesday under the patronage of President at the Ranaviru Monument in Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte.







More than 2,500 family members of fallen heroes, 100 from each district is expected to participate in the ceremony.
