Jan 03, 2020 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s new opposition led by the United National Party on Friday demanded the Speaker Karu Jayasuriya to release the forensic audit report on the bond scam.
Parliamentarians Harsha de Silva, Ravi Karunanayake, Ajith P Perera, and Lakshman Senewiratne urged the Speaker to table the document in the House without dragging the issue further.

Former Chairman of COPE, Sunil Handunnetti, however, pointed out that according to the cover letter of the Attorney General, it is the responsibility of COPE to release the report.
He requested the Speaker to appoint a new COPE committee soon so that they can act on the report. Speaker said that it will be discussed at the party leaders meeting due next week.
Meanwhile, at the commencement of the second session of the Parliament today, the Speaker announced that Sajith Premadasa has been accepted as the new Opposition Leader.
