An earlier district court case – the first of the two injunctions taken out by the network operators meanwhile will be taken up on May 3 for an order, based on the objections filed by the ICT Agency on March 29.

Sri Lanka’s seven telecom operators took a Supreme Court injunction in March against the ICT Agency to mark their opposition to the proposed issue of two rural telecom network licenses.

The Agency since has suspended its licensing process.

Among the reasons sighted in the petition is the legality in the ICT Agency issuing telecom licenses under current industry laws.
