The printing industry could see a leap in orders by June this year as the telecom sector rolls out a ten digit number change.
Phone numbers across the island will see up to four more numerals added before the existing numbers to total ten digits.

rnThe new numbers will have a three digit area codes followed by a seven digit subscriber number.rn

rnAs a result Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) number in Colombo will change to 011 2 XXXXXX from the present 01 XXXXXX. rn

rnWireless Local Loop (WLL) operators numbers in Colombo will change to 011 4 XXXXXX for Suntel and 011 5 XXXXXX for Lanka Bell.rn

rnCellular numbers will retain the first three digits while one additional number will be added before the remaining six numbers. rn

rnThe change is expected to cater to the increasing demand for new numbers and introduce uniformity to the numbering system.rn
