September 21, 2022 (LBO) - Former member of the British and EU Parliaments, Nirj Deva Aditya, has been appointed by President Ranil Wickremesinghe as a Senior Advisor and Presidential Envoy.
He will function as Senior Advisor on EU Affairs to the President and Presidential Envoy to Western Europe and the Commonwealth of Nations.
Key objectives of the appointment will be promotion of closer trade links with Europe, UK and the Commonwealth. He will work with Sri Lankan missions in the territories assigned to him and the proposed International Trade Office being set up by President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Deva Aditya intends to work in an honorary capacity without compensation.
On the eve of the Queen's state funeral in London, Deva Aditya hosted a remembrance service in memory of Queen Elizabeth II at the Army and Navy Club.
