McKinsey to prepare strategies for Sri Lanka’s Digital Economy

Nov 15, 2017 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s cabinet has selected worldwide management consulting firm, McKinsey & Company as the consultation company for the preparation of strategies for Digital Economy in the island. Telecommunication & Digital Infrastructure Minister Harin Fernando said the cost of this exercise is around 1.425 million US dollars. In July this year, Cabinet approved a proposal to prepare suitable strategies for digitalising the economy and to implement the project to develop the digital economy. The project aims to develop strategies, expand the digital economy and empower citizens to reap the benefits of the developments. The ICTA has been entrusted with the task of leading the government’s effort of improving service delivery through digitization of government systems and procedures and, the infusion of technology. For this purpose, 2018 budget proposed to allocate 2,000 million rupees for their on-going initiatives and operational expenditures which comes under the Ministry of Telecommunication and Digital Infrastructure.
