Magisterial inquiry into Avant Garde floating armory ends

Sept 07, 2015 (LBO) - A Sri Lanka magisterial inquiry into a floating armory of Avant Garde Maritime Services (Pvt) Ltd has ended after the Criminal Investigation Department said it would not proceed with the case under advice of the Attorney General.





Last week, the Galle magistrate lifted the travel ban on the former Secretary of Defence Gotabaya Rajapaksa with respect to this case, media reports said.

A retired captain of the Sri Lanka Army had earlier accused Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and Avant Garde officials of violating gun and terror laws during operation of these floating armories that were in place to support anti piracy and protect ships.
