Improved Swedish interest in Sri Lanka imports after GSP+

An increased interest to import products from Sri Lanka to Sweden has been noticed since the GSP+ came in to function. This was confirmed on Tuesday 20th June during a well-attended breakfast seminar in Stockholm at the premises of the Swedish National Board of Trade. The seminar was organised by the Sri Lankan Embassy in Stockholm, National Board of Trade and Sweden-Sri Lanka Business Council. Purpose of the seminar was to inform Swedish importers on how competitive Sri Lanka now is after the GSP+ came into effect. Many of the participants stated that they have waited for the GSP+ decision to come and then they could ask the Sri Lankan exporters to ship the goods to eagerly waiting Swedish customers. The cooperation between the organisers started already in 2015 and number of activates has taken place throughout the years which has helped Sri Lankan exporters to find new clients and markets.
