Import restrictions, except for vehicles to be lifted by next month: Minister

Finance State Minister Shehan Semasinghe says that import restrictions on goods, except for vehicles, will be lifted by next month with the goal of stabilizing prices, as supply shortages have caused price increases for certain products.

"Presently, import restrictions are in place for 600 HS codes," Finance State Minister Shehan Semasinghe said.

"However, by next month, these restrictions will be lifted for all items except for 270 HS codes related to vehicles.

Import bans on passenger vehicles are expected to persist.
