The government plans to borrow Rs. 7 bn in new debt as part of its Rs. 35 bn borrowing programme for November, the Central Bank said Monday. Around Rs. 3 bn will come from new treasury bill issues, while about Rs. 4 bn will be raised via fresh three-year bond paper.
A total of Rs. 28,569 mn in treasury bills mature during the month, but the bank is only re-issuing Rs. 27,699 mn worth of paper. The difference is expected to be retired or picked up by the Central Bank.
"The re-issue of Treasury Bills and issue of Treasury Bonds may be reduced based on market developments and foreign fund inflows," the statement adds.
