Nov 18, 2019 (LBO) – Gotabaya Rajapaksa took the oath of office on Monday as the 7th Executive President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.
The swearing-in ceremony was held before the Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya and Secretary to the President Udaya R.

"We want to remain neutral in our foreign relations and stay out of any conflict amongst the world powers," addressing the gathering Rajapaksa said.
"We will have our fullest commitment to achieve sustainable development goals of the United Nations."
Gotabaya Rajapaksa added that the government should always set an example for society.
"Professionalism and efficiency should be the cornerstone of government administration," he said.
"Meritocracy and technocracy should be promoted at all times. Corruption will never be tolerated under my administration."
Gotabaya Rajapaksa claimed the presidency with a comfortable 52.25 percent majority, winning 6,924,255 votes. Gotabaya Rajapaksa secured a margin of 1,360,016 votes over his closest rival Sajith Premadasa.
