The US to do feasibility for Sri Lanka’s second international airport located in the South of the island, says Minister of Ports and Aviation Mangala Samaraweera. "The US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) has told us they are willing to do the feasibility for the international airport in Koggala," said Samaraweera at a press briefing on Thursday.

"The USTDA sent us their terms of reference.

We have to now get Cabinet approval," he said.

The USTDA is a US foreign assistance agency that helps developing countries, where there are commercial opportunities for American companies.

The agency came forward with grant assistance for Sri Lanka to set up scanning equipment at the Colombo Port and Bandaranaike International Airport and for a cite feasibility for a 300 MW coal power plant.

USTDA involvement in the airport is at the request of the Sri Lankan government.

Funding for the technical and economic feasibility will come as a grant of around US$ 100mn and work on the f
