October 3, 2019 (LBO) - Finance Minster of Sri Lanka Mangala Samaraweera, speaking at a press conference on the management of the country's debt situation, today announced that Daniel Alphonsus has replaced economist Deshal de Mel as Advisor to the Finance Minister.
Alphonsus has a B.A. in philosophy, politics, and economics from Balliol College, Oxford University. He was also a Fulbright scholar, earning a Master's in Public Policy from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government. His work experience includes stints as an analyst at Verite Research, and as Press Secretary to the Foreign Minister.
Alphonsus was schooled in different parts of Sri Lanka including Jaffna, Mannar, and Colombo. He has been a contributor to several newspapers and online publications in Sri Lanka.
