COPE presents interim report; bond report in two weeks

Aug 09, 2016 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s Parliamentary Committee on Public Enterprises has presented its summarized interim report for the first 3 months of this year in Parliament on Tuesday.

Chairman of COPE, Parliamentarian Sunil Handunnetti said the report contains progress of 19 Public Enterprises and covers the period of January 26 to April 08 this year. “We present this summarized version today because we wanted to present the report in a timely manner,” Handunnetti told Parliament. “Even though there is a progress in certain entities; most of our recommendations have not been implemented at the ministry or cabinet level.” He further said that the COPE report of the Central Bank bond investigation will be presented to the Parliament in the coming two weeks. The Parliament today agreed to prepare guidelines to allow media to cover the COPE proceedings.
