In what could lead the way to a common directory for subscribers from all networks, Sri Lanka Telecom today launched its in-house compiled provincial directory - The Rainbow Pages. rnrn
Proposals in the recent draft interconnection framework calls for a common phone index, initiated by SLT. rn
rnAlso proposed is a common online directory database available to competitor operators.rn
rnSLT will also be required to open up its directory assistance services to customers from competitor networks. rn
rnChairman, Tilanga Sumathipala says in view of the proposal in the interconnection framework, this could lead the way to a common directory as SLT now had more control over piecing together the service. rn
rnHe also suggests that the directories arm could be spun off as a separate entity under the telecom giant if a common directory was adopted and when services will be shared. rn
rnMeanwhile, the Rainbow Pages will be accessible via the phone and the Internet and will also include proposed changes t
