China’s Hainan Airlines interested in managing SriLankan: report

July 20, 2016 (LBO) - China’s largest privately-owned air transport firm, Hainan Airlines Company Limited (HNA), is one of the companies interested in managing SriLankan Airlines, a media report said.









EOIs were sought this month by National Savings Bank Fund Management Co Ltd as the lead manager for the reorientation of Sri Lanka Airlines Limited and Mihin Lanka (Private) limited.

The deadline for the submission of completed EOI is 24th August 2016.

HNA is the fourth-largest airline in terms of fleet size in China and operates domestic and international services on 500 routes from Hainan and nine locations on the mainland, as well as charter services. American Aviation LLC, controlled by George Soros, had been a major shareholder of the airline since 1995.
