The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and PwC Sri Lanka will be jointly hosting an awareness webinar on the Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) Framework. Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) are investment vehicles for real estate that allow both small and large investors to acquire and have an undivided interest in properties. After many years of discussion, the REITs framework has been introduced by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka as an extension of the current Unit Trust Code on the 31st of July in the form a Gazette Notification. This webinar will benefit capital market investors and real estate developers who would like to understand this framework and the new rules and its application.
The agenda for the forum will see the Mr. Viraj Dayaratne – Chairman Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of Sri Lanka and Mr Dumith Fernando – Chairman, Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) providing opening remarks followed by a Presentation on the REITs framework by Dr. Harshana Suriyapperuma, Director Corporate Affairs of the SEC. After which there will be a panel discussion and question & answer session with Mr. Rajeeva Bandaranaike, CEO of the Colombo Stock Exchange, Dr. Harshana Suriyapperuma, Mrs. Ayanthi Abeywickrema Director-Legal and Enforcement of the SEC and Mr. Ravi Abeysuriya - CEO/Director, Candor Group and Co-Chair of the National Agenda Committee on Finance and Capital of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce joining the panel discussion. The webinar will be moderated by Ms. Ruvini Fernando, Director – Capital Projects and Infrastructure and Deals Strategy from PwC Sri Lanka.
