Dec 11, 2014 (LBO) – Sri Lanka has been removed from the list of off-shore countries from Belarus, benefiting Sri Lankan exporters a 15 percent tax waiver out on remittance of their export earnings back to Sri Lanka, Minister of Industry and Commerce of Sri Lanka said in a media a release. The total trade reported at 14.24 million dollars in 2013. According to the Department of Commerce of Sri Lanka (DoCSL), the Government of Belarus has removed Sri Lanka from the list of its off-shore countries, with effect from November 26, 2014.
Belarus ranked 77th export destination of Sri Lanka in 2013.About 0.05 percent of Sri Lanka’s total exports is to Belarus, while 94 percent of it constituted tea.
