The English Literary Association of Sri Lanka Law College is proud to announce the return of the highly anticipated Hulftsdorp Debates (HDs) for its tenth edition. The HDs hold the honour of being the first comprehensive university-level English debating tournament in Sri Lanka, and it is conducted in the British Parliamentary style.
This year's competition promises to be the grandest one yet, with the Debaters Council joining hands with Sri Lanka Law College for the first time. This collaboration elevates the prestige of the HDs, making it an even more valuable platform for university students across the island to enhance their debating skills on a national stage.
The tournament offers a platform for students to hone their debating abilities in front of highly qualified adjudicators. Last year, 32 teams from 14 universities and institutions battled it out for the coveted HDs trophy.
Applications for the HDs 2024 are open until July 10th, and the tournament itself will be held on July 20th and 21st at the Law College premises.
