Speaking at the opening session of the 30th UN Human Rights Council session a short while ago Prince Zeid said he will present his recommendations with the report. “On Wednesday I will release the report of the comprehensive investigation that OHCHR was mandated to conduct in March 2014, including my recommendations,” Zeid said. “Its findings are of the most serious nature.

I welcome the vision shown by President Sirisena since his election in January 2015, and the commitments made by the new Government under his leadership,” “But this Council owes it to Sri Lankans and to its own credibility to ensure an accountability process that produce results, decisively moves beyond the failures of the past, and brings the deep institutional; changes needed to guarantee non-recurrence.” Meanwhile Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera and Justice Minister Wijedasa Rajapaksa along with senior government officials met UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Prince Zeid at the Palais Wilson in Geneva yesterday. Minister Samaraweera will address the Human Rights Council today.

I think UN is the ultimate lobby group in the world. It is a platform for political lobbying and lobbying against countries with no respect to their sovereignty.
