Dec 23, 2010 (LBO) - Sri Lankan stocks closed higher Thursday with prices of poultry firms, that had been heavily traded recently, weakening and active trading in a retail firm seen doing well during the festive season, brokers said. Conglomerate John Keells Holdings closed at 300 rupees, down a rupee with 2.5 million shares changing hands. The All Share Price Index closed at 6,511.51, up 0.86 percent (55.69 points) while the more liquid Milanka index rose 1.00 percent (69.39 points) to close at 6,974.30, according to stock exchange provisional figures.

Turnover was 2.2 billion rupees.

Ceyln Grain Elevators was one of the most heavily traded stocks, closing at 71.30 rupees, down 30 cents with over 1.
