The 12th IAPH Asian/Oceania Regional Meeting/Port Forum had been hosted in Colombo for the first time in March 2012.
Wickrama was born in Matara, a southern coastal district in Sri Lanka and was educated at Embilipitiya Central College and entered the University of Moratuwa to study enginnering.
He had joined SLPA as a mechanical engineer in 2001 and was promoted as executive director in 2004.
